Newsletter 9/9/16

Third Grade News
September 9, 2016


What we have done:
This week we have continued to working on the second topic in math. We have taken a few extra days to work on rounding and rounding to estimate equations. In ELA was have been working on the writing process and writing a story about their Grandparents. We also reviewed all the parts of speech we have talked about so far. Below you will find what will be happening in our classrooms next week.

ELA:
Students will be focusing on the Revising step in the writing process this week. For Language, students will be looking at different non-fiction texts to learn about text features, main idea and how to compare and contrast across texts. We will continue to practice Literature Discussion Group activities as well.

Math:    
Students will be wrapping up Topic 2 over addition and subtraction and taking a test on Wednesday, September 14. Your child can continue to practicing rounding numbers to the nearest ten and nearest hundred.  Estimating sums, estimating differences, making sense of addition and subtraction equations, and seeing if problems are reasonable will also all be covered on our test.          

Content:
We will be starting our science unit on Matter!
