Parent Volunteers

If you are volunteering, or interested in volunteering for the 2016-2017 school year, please plan to attend the scheduled Parent Volunteer training on Wednesday, August 31st @ at 2:00 in the Clever Conference Center located by the Central Office. This training, along with a background screening ($43.05), safety video, and confidentiality form are required for all of our parent volunteers who assist in our buildings throughout the school year. 

Please RSVP to Ms. Joetta @ 743-4810 or @ swartzjo@cleverbluejays.org no later than Tuesday, August 30th if you are planning to attend this training.

Tooth Truck

We are pleased to announce the Tooth Truck has the opportunity to treat eligible students at Clever during the 2016-2017 school year.  The Tooth Truck provides comprehensive treatment, from cleanings and x-rays, to repairing cavities at no charge for qualifying families.  Requirements for being seen and treated on the Tooth Truck are:

-Qualify for free and reduced lunch program at school
-Cannot be an established patient of a local dentist
-Cannot have private dental insurance
-Must complete a Tooth Truck application form

The Tooth Truck treats Medicaid-eligible and uninsured children.  Children seen last year are not eligible for a routine check up but should apply if there is a new dental concern.
An application is available at school upon request.  Complete the application form and return to the school nurse as soon as possible.
The Tooth Truck staff will be scheduling students very soon.

Newsletter 8/16/16

Third Grade News - August 19, 2016

What we have done:
This week we have been working on previewing books, discussing books with others and getting into our first literature discussion groups. We have also been working on understanding place value and naming large numbers. In social studies, we have been exploring with Lewis and Clark as well as examining the Louisiana Purchase!
Next week we will be NWEA testing Monday- Thursday in the mornings. Here is what else we will be working on next week!

ELA:
Students will be learning about personal narratives and how they are written. We will look at four different types of sentences as well as parts of speech. Our  Literature Discussion Group activities will continue as well!

Math:    
Students will be finishing up Topic 1 this week. Be looking for a review test Wednesday as our first test will be Thursday!                                                                                                           

Content:
We will be finishing up learning about the Louisiana Purchase with a fun project!

Other Information:
  • Water bottles are welcome as long as they have a lid.

Sept. 5        Labor Day - No School
Sept. 9           Grandparents Afternoon- 2:30-4pm

Cox Care Mobile

The Cox Care Mobile is scheduled to be at Clever Schools on September 8, 2016.  The Care Mobile is a medical office on wheels that provides FREE services for children ages birth to 18 years.  These services include: sport physicals, hearing and vision screenings, well check-ups and sick visits.  Vaccinations are available for those that qualify.  You may call the school nurse to schedule an appointment and to receive the necessary paperwork.
